This guide walks you through renewing your hosting service — from logging in to the client area to completing your renewal payment. You will also learn how to enable auto-renewal, understand renewal reminders, and know what happens if a service expires.
Before you begin
- An active HOSTDOG account
- Your login credentials (email address and password)
- A valid payment method (PayPal, credit/debit card, bank transfer, or account credit)
How to renew your hosting service
Open your browser and go to https://www.hostdog.eu/client/. Enter your email address and password, then click Login. You will be taken to your client area dashboard.
From the top navigation menu, click Services and then select My Services. This page lists all your active, pending, and expired hosting services along with their next due date.
Click on the service you wish to renew. On the service details page, you can see the current billing cycle, next due date, and service status. Look for the Renew button or the renewal options section.
Click the Renew button to initiate the renewal process. If a renewal invoice has already been generated, you will be directed to the invoice page. Otherwise, a new renewal invoice will be created.
Select the renewal period that suits your needs. Longer billing cycles (e.g. annual or biennial) often provide a discount compared to monthly renewals. The total amount will update automatically based on your selection.
Select your preferred payment method and follow the on-screen instructions to finalise the transaction. HOSTDOG accepts:
- PayPal — you will be redirected to PayPal to authorise the payment
- Credit / debit card — enter your card details in the secure payment form
- Bank transfer — use the bank details provided on the invoice
- Account credit — pay using your pre-loaded HOSTDOG balance
Once payment is confirmed, your service is renewed and the next due date is updated accordingly.
Setting up auto-renewal
Auto-renewal ensures your hosting service is renewed automatically before the due date, so you never experience downtime. To enable auto-renewal:
- Go to Billing → Payment Methods in your client area.
- Save a payment method (PayPal or credit/debit card) as your default.
- When a renewal invoice is generated, it will be charged automatically to your saved payment method.
Renewal reminders
HOSTDOG sends automatic email reminders to help you stay on top of your renewals. These reminders are sent at several intervals before your service due date and include a direct link to pay the renewal invoice. Make sure your email address is up to date in your client area profile so you do not miss any notifications.
Early renewal
You do not have to wait until your service is close to expiring. You can renew your hosting service at any time before the due date. The additional time is added to your existing service period, so you will not lose any days. Early renewal is especially useful if you want to lock in current pricing or switch to a longer billing cycle.
What happens if you do not renew
If your hosting service is not renewed by the due date, HOSTDOG follows a structured process:
- Due date passes — the renewal invoice is marked as Overdue and additional reminder emails are sent.
- Grace period — your service continues to operate normally during the grace period, giving you time to complete the payment.
- Service suspension — if the renewal invoice remains unpaid after the grace period, your hosting service is suspended. Your website goes offline, but your data is preserved.
- Termination — if payment is not received within the termination window, the service and all associated data (files, databases, emails) may be permanently removed.

Auto-renewal is tied to your saved payment method. To enable it, go to Billing → Payment Methods and save a PayPal account or credit/debit card. To disable it, remove the saved payment method. You will then need to pay renewal invoices manually.
No. Your data (files, databases, and emails) is preserved during the suspension period. Once you pay the outstanding renewal invoice, your service is reactivated and your website comes back online. However, if the service reaches termination, data may be permanently deleted.
Yes. During the renewal process, you can select a different billing cycle (e.g. switch from monthly to annual). Longer cycles often come with a discount, saving you money over time.
If your service is still within the grace or suspension period, simply pay the overdue renewal invoice and your service will be reactivated automatically. If the termination window has passed, contact our support team as soon as possible to explore recovery options.
