This guide covers two methods: changing your password when you are already logged in, and resetting it if you have forgotten your current credentials. Both methods ensure your HOSTDOG account stays secure.
Method 1: Change your password from the client area
Use this method if you are already logged in and want to update your password.
Navigate to the HOSTDOG homepage and click the Log in button in the top right corner of the page.
Click your name in the top right corner and select Security Settings from the dropdown menu. Alternatively, navigate to Hello, [Name] → Security Settings.
In the Change Password section:
- Enter your current password
- Enter a new password
- Confirm the new password
Click Save Changes to update your password.
Method 2: Reset a forgotten password
If you cannot log in because you have forgotten your password, use the reset option.
Navigate to the HOSTDOG homepage and click the Log in button in the top right corner.
On the login page, click the Forgot password? link below the password field.
Type the email address associated with your HOSTDOG account and click Submit. A password reset link is sent to your email.
Open the password reset email from HOSTDOG and click the reset link. Enter your new password and confirm it. Once saved, you can log in with the new password immediately.
Account password vs. other passwords
HOSTDOG uses separate passwords for different services. Changing your account password does not change these other passwords:
| Password | Purpose | Where to change |
|---|---|---|
| Account password | Logs you into the HOSTDOG client area | Client area → Security Settings |
| Control panel password | Logs you into your hosting control panel | Client area → Services → your plan |
| Email password | Logs you into webmail and email clients | Control panel → Email Accounts |
