Webmail is a browser-based interface that lets you read and send email without installing any software. It works on any device — desktop, tablet, or phone — as long as you have a browser and an internet connection. This article shows you how to access webmail using two different methods, how to log in to Roundcube, and what to do if something goes wrong.
Before you start
- An active HOSTDOG hosting plan with at least one email account created
- Your full email address (e.g.,
info@yourdomain.com) and its password - Your domain's nameservers pointing to HOSTDOG (
ns1.hostdog.gr/ns2.hostdog.gr)
If you haven't created an email account yet, see how to create an email account first.
Method 1: Access webmail via direct URL
The quickest way to reach webmail is by navigating directly to the login page using your domain name.
Open your browser and go to one of these two addresses, replacing yourdomain.com with your actual domain:
yourdomain.com:2096— direct port access (always works)webmail.yourdomain.com— subdomain method (cleaner URL)
On the login page, enter your full email address (e.g., info@yourdomain.com) as the username, and the password you set when creating the account.
info without the domain will not work.
Click the Log In button. You will be taken directly into the Roundcube webmail interface, where you can start reading and composing emails immediately.
Method 2: Access webmail via control panel
If you are already logged into your hosting control panel, you can open webmail directly from there without entering your email password again.
Navigate to yourdomain.com:2083 and enter your control panel credentials. Alternatively, log in through the HOSTDOG Client Area and click Log in to Control Panel from your active service.
In your control panel, find the Email section and click Email Accounts.
Find the email account you want to access and click the Check Email link next to it. This opens webmail directly — no need to enter the email password separately.
What you can do in Roundcube
Roundcube is HOSTDOG's included webmail client. Once logged in, you can:
- Compose and send emails with attachments
- Organise your inbox with folders and filters
- Search through your messages
- Manage your contacts list
- Set up an auto-reply (vacation message)
- Adjust display and signature settings
Roundcube works entirely in the browser, making it useful when you are away from your usual computer or phone. No software installation or configuration is required.
If you regularly access email from a desktop or mobile device, configuring a dedicated email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird gives you offline access and more advanced features. See HOSTDOG email server settings for the connection details you need.
Troubleshooting
Make sure you are entering your full email address as the username (e.g., info@yourdomain.com), not just the username portion. Double-check the password — it is case-sensitive. If you have forgotten the password, you can reset it from the Email Accounts section in your hosting control panel. See how to change your email password for instructions.
This usually happens when accessing webmail via yourdomain.com:2096 before an SSL certificate has been issued for your domain. Every HOSTDOG hosting plan includes a free SSL certificate — if you have recently set up the domain, wait a few minutes for the certificate to activate. Alternatively, use webmail.yourdomain.com, which also uses SSL once the certificate is in place.
Slow webmail performance is usually caused by a large number of emails in your inbox. Try the following:
- Delete old or unnecessary emails and empty the Trash folder
- Move messages into subfolders instead of keeping everything in the inbox
- Clear your browser cache and try again
- Use a different browser to rule out browser-specific issues
If performance does not improve, your mailbox may be approaching its storage quota. Check the quota usage in the Email Accounts section of your control panel.
If yourdomain.com:2096 does not load, your network or firewall may be blocking port 2096. Try the subdomain method instead: webmail.yourdomain.com. If neither works, verify that your domain's nameservers are set to ns1.hostdog.gr and ns2.hostdog.gr.

Yes. The webmail login page is served over HTTPS with a free SSL certificate included on every HOSTDOG hosting plan. Your credentials and email content are encrypted in transit. For additional security, use a strong password and avoid logging in on public or shared computers.
