What is the hosting activation email?
As soon as your hosting order is processed, HOSTDOG sends an automated message with the subject line "Hosting Account Activation" (or similar). This email is your technical "passport"—it contains everything you need to manage your website, set up email, and connect your domain.
Account summary and client area
The top of the email confirms your chosen hosting plan and provides your client area credentials. The client area is where you manage your billing, support tickets, and domain renewals.
- Client area access: Navigate to the HOSTDOG homepage and click the Log in button in the top right corner.
- Username: Your registered email address
Control panel: Your website's engine room
The control panel section is where the technical work happens. Here you'll find the specific username and password for your hosting dashboard, along with the login URLs.
By default, you can access your panel at: https://yourdomain.com:2083
Nameservers: Connecting your domain
To make your website go live under your domain name, you must point your domain to HOSTDOG's nameservers. These are listed clearly in the email:
ns1.hostdog.grns2.hostdog.gr
If your domain is registered elsewhere, you'll need to update these values in your registrar's dashboard. For more information, see How to point your domain to HOSTDOG.
Email server settings
The activation email includes the standard settings for your mailboxes. Whether you use Outlook, an iPhone, or Android, these are the values you'll need:
- Incoming/Outgoing server:
mail.yourdomain.com - IMAP port:
993(SSL) - SMTP port:
465(SSL) or587(STARTTLS)
For a complete breakdown, visit our detailed server settings guide.
FTP and file upload details
If you have an existing website to upload, the email provides your FTP (File Transfer Protocol) credentials. Use these in apps like FileZilla or Cyberduck to connect to your server.
The main folder for your website files is always public_html.
